St. Mary’s Cottage is a detached brick and flint cottage set amidst a small group of cottages by St. Mary’s Church, on the outskirts of South Creake village. It is set well away from the main road down a lane and a grassy track and is roughly 8 miles from the N.W. coast of Norfolk. The cottage is a quiet retreat with no T.V. WiFi is available.
A ten-minute walk will take you into the village, which has a pub, The Ostrich, which has just reopened after having been totally refurbished. It serves lunch, dinner and pizzas.
Fakenham is the nearest town, with a market on Thursdays, a large Tesco and a Morrison’s on the outskirts. Burnham Market, to the north, is a charming village with a good selection of shops and restaurants. North Creake Abbey has a Farmers’ Market on the first Saturday of each month.
The cottage can comfortably accommodate three people. Downstairs there is a small, quarry-tiled entrance hall, suitable for boots etc. Glazed doors lead into the cosy, beamed sitting room with wood-burning stove. A doorway leads off this room into the large kitchen/dining room, also beamed. Cooking is with an electric Aga. There is also a microwave, and a washing machine in the outhouse. Sorry – no dishwasher. There is a radio/CD player (bring your own CDs).
Upstairs is a large double bedroom, a small bathroom with bath and shower, and a single bedroom (both accessed through the main bedroom).
The cottage has a large garden with outdoor furniture, patio, wildlife pond (unfenced) and a summerhouse.
There is parking for one car on the drive.
Sorry, no dogs.
